My Plan to secure a better future for Newbury and West Berkshire

As your Member of Parliament, I am committed to working hard for you no matter what your political persuasion. I have represented the Newbury constituency in Parliament since 2005 and I am a passionate campaigner for West Berkshire and all its residents.

There is so much to celebrate about living here but there is more we can do to make it better for all.

My plan to make Newbury and West Berkshire a better place to live, work and raise a family:

  • TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE AND PROTECT OUR BEAUTIFUL NATURAL ENVIRONMENT - I’m backing West Berkshire Council on its pledge to deliver carbon neutrality by 2030 and I support Government action on plastics. I’m taking a leadership role in protecting our oceans.
  • CHAMPION THE BUSINESSES THAT SUPPORT OUR THRIVING LOCAL ECONOMY - I’m working with local business leaders to increase investment in Newbury and West Berkshire, bringing new companies to the area and improving our skills base.
  • CONTINUE TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO NHS SERVICES - I’m backing the Council’s ground-breaking emotional health programme which is making a real difference to our children and young people. I am working to see better access to mental health services for everyone who needs them.
  • BUILD ON THE SUCCESS OF OUR SCHOOLS - Ofsted has rated 95% of our schools ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’. I’m working for fairer funding for our maintained nurseries and rural schools. That way every child gets access to high quality education.
  • WORK TO SEE AN END TO ROUGH SLEEPING - We’re building on our winter plan that will mean people do not have to sleep rough on our streets. I support Government action that has seen rough sleepers now safely housed and supported.
