Richard Benyon and the newly appointed Rail Minister, Claire Perry, have this week met in the House of Common. Richard requested the meeting to raise wider concerns about the rail service and to seek assurances about the new trains and the electrification of the Great Western Mainline.
The Conservative Group of West Berkshire Councillors has launched its manifesto today. Leader of the group, Gordon Lundie, said: “Our manifesto shows what we have done in the last four years and what we will do for the residents of West Berkshire in the next four years if they re-elect a Conservative Administration to West Berkshire Council”
Richard Benyon, the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Newbury, has this morning welcomed the announcement that a future Conservaive Governement will freeze regulated rail fares in real terms for the whole of the next Parliament.
Conservatives at West Berkshire Council were unsurprised by last minute attempts by local Liberal Democrats to secure the funding that had been promised by the government to implement the 2014 Care Act in full. Part of the Act places a duty on all local authorities to widen the eligibility from the threshold defined as 'critical' to a new national minimum eligiblity level.
