Richard Benyon responds to the Boundary Commission proposals

While I support the general point of the boundary changes and the intention to reduce the number of MPs, I strongly feel that this should be done in conjunction with House of Lords reform.

In terms of how it affects my constituency, I would be gutted to lose Aldermaston ward because this is a much-loved part of my constituency that I have known all my life and represented firstly as its Councillor and then as MP. I will consult with the Parish Council and District Councillor to see what we can do collectively with this recommendation and how we can best respond to the consultation.

This runs for 12 weeks from today until 5 December and is open to any constituents who wish to respond individually. The details are on the Boundary Commission’s website www.bce2018. I would encourage everyone to have a look at the detailed proposals and to submit their views.
